The crushing (unlike grinding for Red Chilli Powder) produces the flakes, giving it a beautiful colour, full flavour and lots of heat.
Red Chilli Flakes is native to Central and South America. While usually associated with Italian food, it is an essential ingredient in many Indian, African, Asian and Mexican dishes.
Used in cooking or as a garnish, it adds a different textural and flavour dimension to a dish without making every mouthful hot and spicy.
