Four biscotti, one box, every job covered

Grandma’s Picks is a gift boxed selection of four small batch biscotti, chosen so the same box carries a cheese board at six and a dessert plate at nine. Inside are Old Tin Ginger, The Celebration, The Providore and Creme Custard and White Chocolate, each 80g, packed in a gift box and posted to the door.

Entertaining used to mean a grandmother in a kitchen from about two in the afternoon. This is the shortcut nobody has to apologise for, because it is still good food, twice baked in small batches, and it still looks like you thought about it.

Build the cheese board:

The Providore is the one that belongs beside the cheese. Macadamia, dark chocolate and flaked sea salt hold their own against an aged cheddar or a soft blue, and Old Tin Ginger does the same job with a washed rind or a slice of quince paste. Stand them upright in a glass or lay them in a fan at one corner of the board, add muscatels, a spoonful of onion marmalade and a handful of nuts, and let the biscotti do the work a cracker cannot.

Then move it to dessert:

The Celebration and the Creme Custard and White Chocolate are the sweet end. Serve them with coffee and a dessert wine, or stand them in bowls of mascarpone and berries. The whole box is designed to travel from the board to the table without you leaving the room.

Try this twenty minute dessert board:

Beat 250g of mascarpone with two tablespoons of icing sugar and the zest of an orange, and spoon it into the middle of a board. Around it put The Celebration and the Creme Custard and White Chocolate biscotti, a bowl of raspberries, a few squares of dark chocolate and a small jug of warm honey. Put the coffee on. That is dessert, and nobody needs to know how long it took.
