Creme Custard & White Chocolate Biscotti
Vanilla slice, in a biscuit
Creme Custard & White Chocolate Biscotti is a twice baked Italian style biscotti made with real custard through the dough and white chocolate through the crumb, baked in small batches. Soft edged, golden and unmistakably creme patissiere.
A crowd favourite!
Custard is grandmother food. It is the smell of a kitchen where somebody was making an effort, and it belongs in a biscuit far more often than it turns up in one.
Inspired by the South African traditional Vla koekie, or Custard biscuit, more commonly known as a melting moment.
Serve it with coffee, dessert wine, vanilla ice cream or poached stone fruit.
Try this Custard biscotti and berry cream pots:
Whip 300ml of cream with a tablespoon of icing sugar and fold through 200g of mascarpone. Layer it into glasses with crushed biscotti and macerated berries, finishing with a whole biscotti standing up in the top. Chill thirty minutes so the biscuit softens just slightly at the edges.
80g, 5 serves. Contains wheat, egg, milk and soy.
Afternoon tea is a good enough reason.
