Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 g Grandma's Pantry GF DF Donut Mix
  • 325 ml water
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Cinnamon sugar for tossing - combine 1 cup caster sugar with 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

Mix

  • Add the water to the bowl first, then add the donut mix. Mix on speed 1 using the paddle attachment for 2 minutes. Scrape down the bowl. Mix on medium speed for a further 1 minute. Allow the batter to sit for 15 minutes before frying. For best results, adjust the water temperature to give a finished batter temperature of 20-22 degrees C.

Fry

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to approximately 180-185 degrees C. Fry the donuts until golden in colour. Remove and drain briefly.

Coat

  • Toss the hot donuts immediately in the cinnamon sugar mixture while still warm so the sugar adheres properly. Serve warm.

Notes

OIL TEMPERATURE: 180-185 degrees C is the window. Too cool and the donuts absorb oil and become greasy. Too hot and the outside browns before the inside cooks. A thermometer is worth using for this one.
ALLERGEN NOTE: Free from wheat, gluten, eggs and milk unless added. Always verify all added ingredients if serving someone with coeliac disease.
