Grandma's GF Crusty Bread

The crusty loaf that earns its place on the table next to soup, stew and a good olive oil. Made with the GF Crusty Bread Mix for a proper crust and an open crumb. Works in a bread machine or baked by hand. Free from wheat, gluten, dairy and nuts.

Ingredients

INGREDIENTS - 1kg Loaf

  • 600 g Grandma's Pantry GF Crusty Bread Mix
  • 3 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 400 ml water
  • 30 g butter or oil

Instructions

BREAD MACHINE METHOD

  • Add all ingredients to the bread machine in the order listed above. Set to the required loaf size and crust colour. Select BASIC Cook and press Start.

HAND KNEAD AND OVEN METHOD

  • Mix and Knead
  • Preheat oven to 190 degrees C, 175 degrees C fan forced. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and bring together into a dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured bench using GF flour and knead well. Return to the bowl, cover and allow to rest in a warm place for approximately 20 minutes.

Second Knead and Prove

  • Turn out and knead again on the floured bench. Place into a greased baking tin and allow to stand for a further 20 minutes.

Bake

  • Place in the oven and bake for approximately 35-40 minutes until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the base. Turn onto a wire rack and cool before slicing.

Notes

SEEDED LOAF: Add up to 75g of your choice of seeds or Grandma's Pantry Chunky Seed Mix to the dough before shaping for a grainy, seeded crust loaf.
