It’s a typical flavour of central Europe – particularly Germany and Austria.
Outside of Europe, caraway seeds are used in harissa pastes of North Africa.
This spice adds a real warmth and sweetness to a dish, but the seeds have a particularly powerful flavour so should be used with restraint.
